Worachai Bhicharnchitr, Vice Chairman of Bangkok Post Public Company Limited, opened the seminar 5 จี พลิกชีวิตเอสเอ็มอีไทย said that aside from the government driving this policy, all sectors must push forward. In the past year, 15 countries have upgraded from 4G technology to 5G. He said that as and when Thailand fully upgrades to 5G the disruption will be even greater than over the past 10 years.
Suwit Mesintri, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, noted that 2010 ushered in the 4G era and now we are preparing for the 5G era which will be an era of “Continuous Disruption”. From connecting people to people we will move to connecting people to things and things to other things. It's a big change that will shock the world. However, it is not too late to prepare for 5G technology which has the benefit of a data transfer rate 100 times as fast as 4G with only 1 in a billion data errors.

Anurak Sanruthai, of Hasan Dried Seafood, Satun Province, said the business started by learning from trial and error, using technology and adapting from problems encountered. The essential business idea was to find dried seafood products and posting them for sale via Facebook.
At first, there were people interested but no one bought. Then he came up with an idea of how to get people interested. He decided to adopt a live sales strategy. At first he didn’t get any takers with a price of 400 baht plus 50 baht shipping cost. So he adopted a new strategy, creating a story with a live response which was fun with the audience and led to pricing at 450 with free delivery.
Suchaya Paleewong, Marketing Manager, Shopee (Thailand) said that Thais on average are on their mobile phones 10 hours a day. This implies a lot of accessibility. If government pushes 5G, it will change the user experience more than online shopping. With faster internet and new innovations, Shopee will create new experiences for users.

Bangkok Post staff joined together to make merit during Buddhist Lent by donating polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottles to Wat Chak Daeng, Song Khanong Sub-district, Phra Pradaeng District, Samut Prakan Province. The bottles will be reprocessed to produce monks’ robes. The activity is part of a project initiated last year by Wat Chak Daeng in collaboration with PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC) to produce anti-bacterial monk’s robes from recycled PET.
