Bangkok – Leo Burnett and ARC Worldwide joined with Bangkok Post to organize a charity photo exhibition of Mr. Garry Cooper, the 65 year old Australian creative director, who has a special bond with Thailand and wanted to contribute something back to his beloved Thailand. All proceeds from the “It’s Time to Give Back” photo exhibition and auction will be donated to the Bangkok Post Foundation to sponsor education support for poor Thai children.
“Bangkok Post is absolutely delighted to join Leo Burnett and ARC Worldwide in sponsoring and organizing this wonderful charity photo exhibition. We were impressed by Mr. Garry’s pure intention to help Thai kids who have little chance in education, even though Garry is not Thai. The Bangkok Post Foundation, supported by the Bangkok Post, will assist Mr. Garry’s kindness to assist underprivileged Thai children who are looking for a better life through opportunities in education. I hope this event will encourage Thai people to be more concerned with the problems of poor children around Thailand who need the opportunity for a better education.” Mr. Supakorn Vejjajiva, President and COO of The Post Publishing and Committee Member of Bangkok Post Foundation, said.
“Social Responsibility activities have always been Leo Burnett and ARC Worldwide way of contributing good things back to Thai society. I think Garry’s intention to help poor students in Thailand is very thoughtful. His love for Thailand shows distinctly. We are pleased to support. Garry’s photo exhibition since he is considered as one of the most renowned creative directors who has worked in Thai advertising industry for the last 20 years, and the purpose of the exhibition itself is a very useful social responsibility activity. This is why we have no hesitation in lending our support to the “It’s Time to Give Back” photo exhibition & auction.” said On-Usa Lamliengpol, CEO of Leo Burnett and ARC Worldwide.
“Photography is my favorite activity. I love how a photo can perfectly capture our memory, communicate emotions, and reflect well on people’s life and cultures. As I traveled to places around the world, I’ve taken lots of meaningful photos everywhere I went. I’ve been touched by all the different cultures I’ve seen from one place to another. But through all the differences, one similar thing I realized from every place is the innocence of the young kids. I can see hope reflected in their eyes. I’ve discovered through my journey that there are still a large number of children who have no chance to study and just need someone to hand them an opportunity. Children’s hope reflected through their sparkling eyes has inspired me to do something for their better future. I would like to start helping underprivileged children in Thailand, the place I’ve called home for over 20 years, where I’ve lived with love and happiness. I would like to contribute good deeds to my beloved Thai society. I believe giving opportunities on education is one of the best ways to give back to Thai society, since education can help develop these children to grow up beautifully. Their fully educated minds will become a key to promote the bright future of Thailand.” Mr. Garry revealed his inspiration behind the photo exhibition.
In the “It’s Time to Give Back” photo exhibition on May 19th, there were 48 photos by Mr. Garry presented. These photos were taken at several places that he’s visited around the world. The highlight of this exhibition was the auction of four photos. The highest bidders for each auction photos are 1. Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, President of Srithai Superware Public Company Limited with 200,000 THB bidding value; 2. Mr. Lertchai Phongsobhon, Sales and Business Development Director of Toll Global Forwarding (Thailand) with 30,000 THB bidding value; 3. Mr. Michel Horn, General Manager of Centara Grand at CentralWorld with 30,000 THB bidding value; and 4. Mr. Atsushi Fujimoto, President of Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. with 100,000 THB bidding value. The total fund raised from photo auction is 360,000 THB.
Moreover, there were 20-inches size photos and beautiful sets of postcards available for visitors to buy. All proceeds were given to the underprivileged kids for their scholarships via the Bangkok Post Foundation. In addition, the representatives from all partners joined the event and talk about the inspiration behind holding the exhibition and what brought it to life. There were many representatives from leading agencies and well-known celebrities attended the event such as Kriengsak Tantipipop, Chalida Taochalee Tantipipop, Bhanu Ingkawat, Jay Bunnag, Bandit and Mary Ungrangsee, Pitta Na Pattaloong, and Nadia Nimitvanich.
